Planned Parenthood is taking on water down in Texas. They have just been sued under the False Claims Act by a former manager. Reading the complaint, it is clear the manager has intimate details of an extensive fraudulent billing scheme.
The damages are not given a dollar amount in the complaint, but the numbers are enormous. If the complaint's estimate of the number of false claims proves correct - 87,000 - the total damages will be in the hundreds of millions. This is because the False Claims Act calls for a penalty of $5,500 to $11,000 per false claim, plus three times the actual damages.
